Grand Session: Monday, July 24, 2023 – Wednesday, July 26, 2023
To all Grand Officers, Worthy Matrons, Worthy Patrons, Past Matrons, Past Patrons, and Members of Mizpah Grand Chapter Jurisdiction of Alabama, Prince Hall Affiliated. By the power vested in us and in keeping with our custom, we send you this Proclamation of Mizpah Grand Chapter, Order of Eastern Star, called to meet at the Renaissance Mobile Riverview Plaza Hotel in Mobile, Alabama.
WELCOME
The Welcome Program will be held jointly in the Renaissance Mobile Riverview Plaza Hotel on July 24, 2023, at 6:00 p.m. Bon Secour Bay Ball Rooms. All delegates are expected to attend this program. The Devotional Services will take place at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 25, 2023. The local committee will be given thirty minutes at 8:15 a.m. (promptly) to present their local welcome program. The Order of Eastern Star Degree for the Grand Chapter will open at 8:45 a.m. All registrants are expected to be in their appropriate seats with proper dress/attire for opening.
CREDENTIAL COMMITTEE
Registration will begin Monday, July 24, 2023, at 8:00 a.m., and close at 4:00 p.m. The Credential Committee will process registrants on Tuesday and Wednesday beginning at 8:00 a.m. All registrants MUST have the following before a badge is issued and the registrant be seated:
- All assessments dues as of March 31, 2023, must be reflected in the computer system (Grand Chapter Tax, Charity, Bond payment. If there are any discrepancies, you must present paid receipts before you will be allowed to be seated.
COVID-19 GUIDELINES FOR THE GRAND SESSION
- A face mask may be worn at your discretion.
- Temperature check will be done when you register at the hotel.
- A wristband will be issued only once when you register to be worn daily doing the Grand Session.

TRAINING SESSIONS
Monday, July 24, 2023, at 1:00 p.m., training sessions will be held on the second floor of the hotel in the Bon Secour Bay Ballrooms for Worthy Matrons, Associate Matrons, and Past Matrons; Secretaries/Treasurers; Conductress, Associate Conductresses. New Members and Refresher Training will begin at 12:00 noon. Worthy Patrons and Associate Patrons and Past Patrons will meet in the Bon Secour Room located on the first floor of the hotel at 1:00 p.m., for training. PLEASE MAKE AN EFFORT TO ATTEND THE TRAINING SESSIONS THAT APPLIES TO YOUR POSITION IN YOUR LOCAL CHAPTER.
MATRONS AND PATRON’S ADMINISTRATIVE DEGREE
The Administrative Degree will be conferred upon all newly elected Matrons, Associate Matrons, Patrons and Associate Patrons on Wednesday Morning, July 26, 2023, at 6:00 a.m. in the Clipper Room on the first floor of the hotel. All newly elected Matrons, Associate Matrons, Patrons, and Associate Patrons must have a letter of certification from their chapter. There is a $5.00 fee for the Administrative Degrees that must be paid along with your letter of certification from your chapter. Please bring CASH ONLY along with your letter.
CHAPTER OF SORROW
The chapter of sorrow will be held on Wednesday, July 26, 2023, at 8:00 a.m. Host District’s will be in charge.
TRUSTEE BOARD AND DEPUTIES CONFERENCE
The Early Bird Breakfast will take place at 7:30 a.m. on Monday, July 24, 2023, in the Mobile Bay Room. Following the Early Bird Breakfast, the Trustee Board will meet in the same room. Grand District Deputies will meet in the same room at 2:30 p.m.
Please come to the Ritualistic Opening on Tuesday morning, July 25, 2023, prepared to honor your Grand District Deputy before we dismiss for lunch. Lunch will be ON YOUR OWN.
SPECIAL NOTES TO ALL MATRONS AND PATRONS
- A complete chapter requires 15. Chapters with less than 15 members are urged to bring their chapter membership in compliance to mandated standards.
- Increase membership with qualified candidates.
- Request dispensation to merge with another chapter.
- We also urge you to learn and do well the ritualistic work of the O.E.S., and do not try to inject practices of the Lodges into the work.
- Be careful of the strange performances brought in from other jurisdictions. Clear all of these ideas with your Grand District Deputy, Grand Worthy Matron/Patron before you start practicing it.
- Names of newly elected Worthy Matrons, Secretaries and Treasurers must be submitted each year to the office of the Grand Secretary/Treasurer in order to bring our Bond records current.
- The Grand Chapter will be opened in The Order of Eastern Star Degree.
- Codes of dress: White for all occasions. Grand Officers: Long Dresses; Worthy Matrons and Members: Mid-Length Dresses. Accessories: White Gloves, White Shoes, Brown Stockings, and Eastern Star or White Jewelry. (No gold or other costume jewelry). Brothers: Dark Suits, White Shirts, and Black Ties
2023 SESSION
